New Roden kit #311 of a USAF Douglas C-124C Globemaster
Cold War era 4-engine heavy-lift military transport, upgraded 'C' variant.
In 1947 the newly organized US Air Force required a strategic transport aircraft, Douglas developed, based on the C-74 the C-124 Globemaster II. The prototype, YC-124 was actually a fifth series C-74 with a new, higher fuselage, reinforced chassis and powerplant of four R-4360-49 engine with a capacity of 3500 liters.
Kit features engraved panel lines, flight deck with bulkhead, raised-relief radial engine faces, nose radar radome, wingtip combustion heaters, filigree antennae and fairings, single-piece 3-blade propellers, detailed undercarriage and wheel wells plus injection-molded canopy glazing.
